Changes to C++ Redistributable requirements for uPerform Recorder

Environment

What's changing?

As part of our ongoing development efforts to further enhance our software, we will be updating the underlying technology which will require the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x64 and x86) 14.30 or 14.40 version to be installed on your uPerform author´s machines to support full recording functionality.

When is this required?

Starting in late August 2024, the uPerform Client will require the newer version of C++. Failure to update to the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x64 and x86) version will impact uPerform author's ability to record new content.

What do I need to do?

Please review and confirm this version is installed on uPerform author's machines by doing the following:

  1. Click the Windows button on your keyboard.
  2. Type "Add" and select "Add or remove Programs"
  3. Scroll down in the "Installed Apps" list and check your Microsoft Visual C++" version.

If you need to install the update, you can download the latest version for your operating system (x86 and x64) here on the Microsoft website.

Can I use the new version of C++ with my current uPerform Client version?

Yes.

What will happen if we do not make the updates in time?

The uPerform Recorder will not be able to initialize successfully after the Client is updated to the version (to be released in late August) that requires the new C++ Redistributable. If you do not upgrade the uPerform Client when the late August update is available, you can continue using the uPerform Recorder with the older C++ version.

If the uPerform team has not received confirmation via email that your organization's systems have been updated, we will temporarily disable the auto-update feature in your uPerform system to prevent recording problems. uPerform system administrators and key users should have received an email regarding this on July 11th. They should reply to this email to confirm. If you have any questions or concerns please submit a ticket.

What if our organization periodically pushes out updates to uPerform Client instead of using the built-in auto-update feature in uPerform?

The files needed for this type of installation will include the appropriate Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable version needed, so you will not need to worry about updating the Redistributable separately.
