Simulation bookmarking does not work on first attempt on page refresh, loading in new tab or re-starting the browser

Symptoms

• Simulation bookmarking does not work consistently. Trying to continue a simulation mode which was previous run half way through will not offer to continued where you left off if a new browser session has been started, the page has been refreshed or the simulation is launched in a new tab.
