Your content is only useful if it’s easy to find and access. With our latest User Management release, accessing relevant training and support content is a whole lot easier for learners.
The enhanced Group Management offers administrators better and faster ways to assign individuals to groups, either automatically based on user profile information or manually. Simply select the fields that allow someone to be a part of a group and uPerform automatically manages group association. Once configured, content in the Learning Library and in-application help is specific to the user’s role, department, or other attributes, so users can find answers to their how-to questions quickly and get back to work faster.
Topics we covered:
- Automated content filtering in the Learning Library and in-application help
- Benefits of uPerform groups
- Creating and managing groups
Greg LaPalomento, our expert Strategic Software Consultant, and Mike Fillingim, our Technical Account Manager, provided a demonstration followed by Q&A.

Q&A
1. Can I add more than one auto-assignment rule for a group?
Yes, you can. You can set the group up using an “and/or” statement. You can the logic where it says you either have this template or this role and either one of those matches will bring you into the group. Or you can set it up to where it uses both the template and role, meaning you have to have both of those criteria to then be able to access that content.
2. Can I assign individual documents to groups?
Yes, absolutely. As a matter of fact, at the end of the demonstration that you saw with Mike, he did that. It's a drag-and-drop feature and there's more guidance available on our Intelligence Hub, but just rewatch the end of the demonstration and you'll be able to see exactly how to do that.
3. When a user's group attributes change, does uPerform automatically update the user's group membership?
Yes, it does. In fact, if you were a nurse, and let's say sometimes you work on the floor in a Med-Surg capacity or telemetry and then sometimes you also rotate over into the Emergency Department (ED), you can utilize that login department as one of those criteria so that as they move to those different areas it would reassign them. So, if they logged in in the ED, they would get ED-specific content, and then when they rotate back to the floor, they would be able to get Med-Surg-specific content. So, you can absolutely take advantage of that, and it does automatically apply.
4. Is there any limit to the total number of groups I can create when building out my hierarchy?
No, there is not. We do have clients that have upwards of nearly 1,000 groups. We have yet to see a true limit, and typically it does not take near that many to accomplish the goals of our clients.
5. When will the cascading of group filtering be replaced by an easier choice selection? Have you heard any feedback from clients regarding that?
We have added an enhancement request. Subscribe to our Coming Soon to uPerform article for updates.
6. Can we configure single sign-on for uPerform end users?
Yes, you sure can. uPerform utilizes SAML and Epic SSO. SAML is an HTML-based user authentication method that takes advantage of your Active Directory. It will allow you to assign users from your network to uPerform so they can be authorized to use it at that time. When users access uPerform via single sign-on, their browser will refer to their authentication through the network and verify that they've already logged in and then allow them directly into uPerform.
